Our Story

A library, a coffee, and five beautiful years later...

We met in Oxford's library, both reaching for the same book. Alfie was lost, Emily helped, and he asked her to coffee instead of finding his notes.

Five years later, he proposed on a freezing hillside in the Lake District. She said yes immediately. Now we're getting married, and we can't imagine celebrating without you.

What to wear

We'd love for guests to dress in smart casual or garden party attire. Think summer dresses, suits, and light fabrics.

There's no strict dress code, so wear what makes you feel wonderful. The only rule? Leave the white dresses for the bride!

The ceremony begins at 2pm sharp in the walled rose garden. Please arrive by 1:45pm so we can start on time. Seating will be provided – feel free to sit anywhere.

After the ceremony, join us on the south terrace for champagne, Pimm's, and canapés while we sneak off for photos. Lawn games will be set up if you fancy a go.

When should I RSVP by?

Please RSVP by April 30, 2026. This gives us enough time to confirm final numbers with our caterers and create the seating plan.

Can I bring a plus-one?

We've indicated on your invitation whether you have a guest included. If you're unsure or your situation has changed, just drop us an email and we'll sort it out.

Are children invited?

We absolutely adore your little ones, but we've planned an adults-only celebration. We hope this gives parents a well-deserved night off! If childcare is an issue, please let us know and we can try to help arrange something locally.

What if it rains?

We have a beautiful marquee as backup, so the party goes on regardless! If there's a chance of rain, we'll set up covered walkways and have umbrellas on hand. We're English – we're used to it.

Is there parking at the venue?

Yes! There's free parking on-site at Ashwell Manor. Follow the signs when you arrive, and our ushers will direct you.
